Oilers dominate flightless Flyers 5-4

Epic Fail

Philadelphia Flyers - Epic Fail

Love matinées. Love ’em.

The Edmonton Oilers, after achieving the big win in Carolina, walked out of Philly with a big two points. Come on, it deserves some props. The Flyers were on a 4-game winning streak and we had just come off of our 5 game losing one. It was the story of MacIntyre and a bunch of skilled Oilers versus the self-proclaimed “next generation” of the Broad Street Bullies. I think somebody’s been watching too much Degrassi: the Next Generation. Delusions of grandeur, perhaps.

Also of note: Roloson starting both games in the back-to-back. MacT is pretty much telling Garon to “pick it up, princess.”

If it were not for their powerplay today (which scored 3 of their 4 goals), the flightless Flyers wouldn’t have even been in this game. The PP played a big role for the Oilers win too, but mostly for the sake of keeping momentum.

All in all, two goals by Hemmer, a heckuva fight from Big Mac and a good all-round game from everyone not named Joffrey Lupul and Martin Biron, who have failed epicly. More importantly, the Oilers found even strength success – which means hard fought real-time goals. More impressively, it was the second of a set of back-to-back games in less than 24 hours. The Oilers are back, baby.

Dare to dream.
